(in)Visible – Queerspace – Drummond Street Services
(in)Visible is a free, community-led program from Drummond Street Services created by and for young queer, trans and intersex people of colour (QTIPOC) aged 16–25. Designed for young people from culturally, ethnically and religiously diverse backgrounds, the program recognises that identity is intersectional and provides a welcoming space where participants can explore every part of who they are without needing to choose between their culture, faith, gender or sexuality.
Through fortnightly workshops, creative activities, cultural celebrations, excursions and community events, (in)Visible helps young people build meaningful friendships, strengthen their wellbeing and connect with others who share similar lived experiences. Previous activities have included film screenings, art workshops, museum visits, Lunar New Year celebrations and other opportunities to celebrate culture, creativity and community.
Led by QTIPOC peer facilitators with lived experience, the program also provides warm referrals to counselling and other specialist support services when needed. More than a social program, (in)Visible creates a sense of belonging for young people who may feel excluded across multiple communities, empowering them to build confidence, resilience and lasting community connections.
