Matrix Guild Victoria – Support for Lesbians Aged 40+
Matrix Guild Victoria is a charitable organisation dedicated to improving the health, wellbeing, housing and quality of life of lesbians aged 40 and over. Founded in 1992 by lesbian feminists, the organisation advocates for the rights and needs of older lesbians, working to ensure they can age with dignity, safety and connection.
Matrix Guild raises awareness of the unique experiences of older lesbians in areas such as aged care, housing, health and home-based support. Through advocacy, research, education and partnerships with governments and service providers, the organisation works to improve lesbian-inclusive services and challenge ageism, discrimination and social isolation.
The organisation also provides social housing for older lesbians experiencing financial disadvantage, a volunteer visitor program to support women who are isolated, regular social events, publications and opportunities to connect with other lesbians through membership and community activities. By fostering connection, advocacy and practical support, Matrix Guild helps older lesbians remain visible, valued and supported throughout later life.
