Rainbow Kin – LGBTQIA+ Childbirth and Early Parenting Classes
Rainbow Kin offers inclusive childbirth education and early parenting classes designed specifically for LGBTQIA+ people and rainbow families preparing to welcome a baby. Led by a queer midwife with both professional expertise and lived experience, the program provides evidence-based education in a welcoming, affirming environment where all identities, pathways to parenthood and family structures are recognised and celebrated.
Delivered as a two-part series, the classes cover everything from pregnancy, labour and birth through to newborn care, feeding, recovery and the transition to parenthood. Sessions also explore topics that are particularly relevant to LGBTQIA+ families, including inclusive language, navigating healthcare systems, donor conception, non-birth parents, shared parenting roles and advocating for your family throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond.
Available both online and in person, Rainbow Kin creates opportunities for families to build knowledge, ask questions and connect with other LGBTQIA+ parents-to-be. Whether you’re expecting your first child or growing your family, the classes provide practical skills, reassurance and a supportive community to help you approach birth and early parenting with confidence.
