The Village – online support for parents of gender diverse children
By Queerspace (Drummond Street Services)
The Village is a free, seven-week online support program from Queerspace for parents and caregivers of gender diverse, trans and gender non-conforming children. The program creates a safe, supportive space for parents to connect with others navigating similar experiences, ask questions and explore the emotions, uncertainties and joys that can come with supporting a gender diverse child.
Each weekly session is facilitated by a Queerspace counsellor and host, combining professional guidance with peer connection. Together, participants explore a range of topics including understanding gender diversity, responding to change, navigating school and community settings, supporting a child’s mental health and wellbeing, strengthening family relationships, and accessing helpful services and resources.
The Village recognises that every family’s journey is unique. By bringing parents together in a respectful and affirming environment, the program helps build confidence, reduce isolation and empower families to support their children with greater understanding, compassion and connection.
Whether your child has recently shared their identity or your family has been on this journey for some time, The Village offers practical guidance alongside a supportive community of parents who understand.
